Officials announced Monday that the Main street apartments in downtown New Port Richey are expected to be completed in the year 2083. Although the apartments have been under construction for the last two centuries, after Monday’s news, New Port Richey residents are hopeful that their children might be able to see the completion of the long-awaited apartments.
New Port Richey native Bryan Longwait said that he has fond memories of seeing the apartments under construction when he was a child, and is excited that his children, and possibly his grandchildren, will have the same. New Port Richey officials said that they hope the long wait will build anticipation and will help bring people together. They said, “There’s nothing that brings a community together like a never-ending construction project.”
